Public conference at the University of Granada

October 28, 2009 (at 7.30 p.m.)

Together with the University of Granada and the IAA (Instituto de Astrofisica de Andalucia), IRAM organizes a series of public conferences.

On one of these occasions, IRAM astronomer and station manager of the Pico Veleta observatory, Carsten Kramer, will present the IRAM 30 meter telescope, the universe of radio astronomy and IRAM's participation in the Herschel mission - a satellite to be launched by ESA in 2009 in order to study the formation of galaxies and stars and to examine the molecular chemistry of our universe.

AMA09: 100 Hours of Astronomy 24-hour webcast

April 3 and 4, 2009 (at 6.40 p.m. and 0.20 a.m.)

The research observatories' webcast will be a unique live webcast over 24 hours. Viewers will follow night and day around the globe, visiting large research observatories, like the IRAM 30m telescope and the Plateau de Bure interferometer. They will discover what the IRAM astronomers are doing right now. Who is observing? What are we researching? What do we hope to discover?

There will be opportunities for you to ask astronomers questions, see exclusive astronomical images from both of our observatories and watch our astronomer on duty doing live observations.

Timeslot for the 30m telescope: 0.20 a.m. (04.04.2009); timeslot for the Plateau de Bure interferometer: 6.40 p.m. (03.04.2009)
